Riedel Crystal adds shapes for beer & spirits to Riedel Veritas Series

(EDISON, NJ – 2016) – Riedel, the 300 year-old family credited with revolutionizing glassware for the enjoyment of wine, announces two new glass shapes in its Riedel Veritas Series, first introduced in 2014. The Riedel Veritas Series will expand its line of “wine tools” to include shapes for beer and spirits, the first ultrathin versions of each shape ($69/set of 2).

The glass shapes of the Riedel Veritas Series, designed by 10th-generation glass maker Georg Riedel are 15% taller than Riedel’s benchmark Vinum series, and 25% lighter and finer while maintaining incredible durability. The Riedel Veritas Beer Glass is the first and only beer glass in the groundbreaking series, and offers an added value proposition to consumers. Contrary to popular belief, the thinner the beer glass, the less temperature exchange between beverage, vessel and environment, due to the fact that thicker glasses have more mass to retain heat. This means that the Riedel Veritas Beer Glass, a functional tool in nearly weightless form keeps beer cool for longer than a thicker stein glass.

The Riedel Veritas Spirits Glass is the updated version of the Cognac Hennessy glass which has been remade taller, thinner and lighter for a perfected, elegant tasting experience.

"Through our extensive taste tests with breweries and distillers, we determined the best shape suited for beer which we perfected in our Riedel Veritas Beer glass," explains Maximilian. "Likewise, we enhanced the familiar tulip shape of the Vinum Hennessy glass, elongating its stem in our lightest machine-blown crystal glass."

The Riedel Veritas series also includes glasses for Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling, Viognier/Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Champagne, among others.
