RIEDEL Decanter Mamba Double Magnum Black

The alluring Mamba decanter channels the vigor of the famous Black Mamba, the world’s fastest snake. Following on from the serpentine Eve decanter (2008), the Mamba’s poised upright stance and coiled design creates a series of air pockets which “double decants" the wine. As the wine makes its journey through the curvaceous glass, the Mamba emits a gurgle: an aural reminder of the vigorous decanting as a result of its design. The Mamba decanter is recommended for young wines. This piece features a black stripe through the design, achieved by introducing a rod of black crystal into the molten glass before the decanter has been formed. This decanter is designed for a double magnum (3L) bottle of wine. This pack contains a single piece. This product is handmade. Please handwash only. The RIEDEL Bottle Cleaner cannot be used with this product as they can become lodged and unable to remove.

There are two reasons why we decant wines:

  1. Decant an older wine to separate it from its sediment.
  2. Decant a younger wine to increase aeration, revealing more complexity, and opening up aromas and flavors.

On the palate, decanted wine expresses higher levels of fruit in red wines and tends to integrate and smooth out tannins.
