VITIS
machine-MADE & GRAPE VARIETAL SPECIFIC
Riedel's Vitis series takes elegance to new heights. Literally. The tallest machine blown Riedel collection to date, Vitis has a towering profile and graceful silhouette that adds a sophisticated presence to any table. Aptly named, Vitis (the Latin word for ‘vine’), climbs skyward on a seamlessly pulled stem. This technique draws the base of the bowl into the very top of the stem, indenting the bottom of the bowl. When wine is poured into the glass this triangular space is filled, adding an additional point of interest to the glass. This crystal series was created using the most advanced machine blown technology, ensuring a consistently high level of quality. Perfectly proportioned, Vitis is exquisitely balanced both in the hand and to the eye.
The collection’s seven varietal-specific glasses are based upon Riedel’s Vinum Extreme bowl shapes and beautifully compliment New World wines. Thoughtfully designed by Georg Riedel, the sides of the Vitis bowls flare dramatically outward before narrowing toward the rim, maximizing the surface to air space wine experiences and allowing the wines to aerate within the glass. The Vitis collection is a recipient of the Good Design Award from the Chicago Atheneum. The series includes Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Champagne, Riesling/Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah/Shiraz, Montrachet and Martini glasses that, unlike other wine glass collections, are all the same height.
