RIEDEL VERITAS RESTAURANT
MACHINE-MADE & GRAPE VARIETAL SPECIFIC
In 2014, Georg Riedel challenged the Chief Engineer of his Weiden factory, Franz Schmid, and his world class technicians to execute the world’s finest and lightest machine blown glasses. The Weiden factory, located in Bavaria Germany and one of four manufacturing plants owned by RIEDEL Crystal, was briefed that the new range should not only be visually stunning and a delight to hold, but also price competitive against handmade products from low-cost manufacturers. The technicians accomplished their task with excellence, creating a wine glass collection for the 21st century.
The spectacular result is RIEDEL Veritas: taller, lighter and finer than Vinum, dishwasher safe, break resistant, and suitable for daily use. Manufactured in crystal glass utilizing the very latest techniques developed by the Weiden factory team, the RIEDEL Veritas series draws on 60 years of wine experience and expertise. Light, balanced and elegant, these ‘instruments’ have been designed to enhance the enjoyment of fine wines.
As well as offering traditional shapes for Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling and Viogner, the series also presents two glasses for both Syrah and for Pinot Noir, for either Old World or New World styles, and the revolutionary ‘Champagne Wine Glass’. Unlike a conventional flute: “The name Champagne Wine Glass was chosen carefully and deliberately,” says Maximilian RIEDEL, CEO of RIEDEL Crystal. “Champagne is a wine and deserves to be treated as such. Whether enjoying a Blanc de Blanc or a Cuvée, this glass allows the wide range of aromas to unfold. The larger rim diameter enables the scent of the champagne to be released in a way, which is not possible with a narrow flute. The glass also includes a ‘sparkling point’ to aid the formation of the champagne bubbles.”
