The Perfect Serve Cocktail: Old Fashioned

by Erin Ogilvie

We're kickstarting our Perfect Serve Cocktail posts with a classic - the Old Fashioned!

Sweet, bitter, and just a little bit sexy, the Old Fashioned should be served on ice with a curl of orange zest, in our Perfect Serve Single Old Fashioned tumbler.

In the 19th century, the term “cocktail” referred to a specific type of drink, rather than an entire category of drinks as it does today.  It was clearly defined as containing spirits, sugar, bitters, and water or ice.

This classic mixture was later termed “Old Fashioned”, and this short-sided tumbler was the perfect vessel for it.

Taking the edge of Don Draper's tough days at the office.
