Riedel has been emphasising the importance of decanting for many years. This applies to all wines, be they red, white, young or mature – and even to champagne. International design awards and patents underscore the expertise developed by the company over the years in the field of decanters and their functionality.

In the case of red wines, wine from a decanter expresses a higher fruit content on the palate and tends to integrate and take the rough edge off tannins. We offer a huge selection of elegant machine-blown and extravagant hand-crafted decanters to honour good wines with the treatment that they deserve.

“Back to basics. Although the functionality of Riedel decanters with a double and triple decanting function is beyond doubt, for some they are too complicated and fiddly to use. With these three new decanters, we are taking a step back and offering an alternative which, as far as we are concerned, perfectly interprets the zeitgeist.”

Amadeo – Horn – Ayam – Curly Pink – Mamba and Cornetto – the list reads like a roll-call of bestselling decanters from Riedel. These decanters - known for their exclusive design - are now also available in a mini-version.

The Riedel Mini Limited Edition Decanters hold exactly half a bottle of wine (0.375 l). This size is becoming ever more popular in superior gastronomic establishments worldwide and for use at home. With Riedel Mini, restaurants can now also decant these volumes to perfection and present their wines in decanters at the table.

For consumers, too, they are a wonderful alternative to the regular sizes – and not just as an answer to storage issues. They are the perfect size for those times when you wish to share a bottle of wine on two separate occasions and to drink a perfectly decanted wine both times.

Riedel Mini Decanters are both exquisite and functional – their design is guaranteed to generate that wow effect, both in the restaurant and at home. The decanters are hand-blown and hand-crafted from crystal glass in the Riedel factory in Kufstein.

RIEDEL Decanter Amadeo Performance

Performance AMADEO

Since its launch in 2006, the Amadeo decanter has established itself as one of the icons in the Riedel decanter collection.

As is the case with many icons, there have always been new interpretations of Amadeo without ever changing the basic design - the shape of a lute. Whatever form it takes, be it the Double Magnum version with rainbow decor for the Elton John AIDS Foundation (2017), whether it comes coloured or plain, or as part of the Riedel Mini Decanter Limited Edition collection: Amadeo always captures the zeitgeist and consumer taste to perfection!

In 2019, the award-winning Performance range of glasses is to be enriched by the addition of an optically impactful Amadeo decanter in the form of a Magnum with a green line - the signature colour of the Performance range.

The decanter is an absolute must-have for lovers of design and wine connoisseurs.

The look and feel of this piece are unique, as is – and this is crucial for a Riedel decanter – its function.

The decanters are hand-blown and hand-crafted from crystal glass in the Riedel factory in Kufstein.

In MARGAUX, MACON and MARNE, Maximilian J. RIEDEL now presents new forms which allow for gentle decanting and are therefore perfect for more mature red or young white wines. “The inspiration for these new decanters came from the elaborately finished cognac and whisky bottles, some of them up to 100 years old, which I happened across in one of London’s prestigious fine wine stores. In the design of the Margaux, Macon and Marne decanters, I have reinterpreted these impressions for my wine decanters. They offer a perfect symbiosis of form and function,” says Maximilian J. Riedel by way of explanation of his new creations.

These hand-crafted crystal-glass decanters are both modern and classic at once.

MEDOC and MOSEL ideal for more mature red wines, young white wines, champagne and orange wine

The MEDOC and MOSEL decanters represent a gorgeous addition to the “M” decanter collection presented by Maximilian J. Riedel in 2017. Their tall and slim blown-effect form makes the decanters easy to handle. They are ideal for more mature red wines, young white wines, champagne and orange wine.

The design is a clear bow to the current trend for casual dining, explains Maximilian J. Riedel, designer of these new decanters.

The decanters are hand-blown and hand-crafted from crystal glass in the Riedel factory in Kufstein. They are easy to handle, sit perfectly in the refrigerator door and are dishwasher-safe.

RIEDEL Decanter Girafe

A troublesome byproduct of mature wines and a recurring problem — the issue of the separation of sediments (also known as tartrates) — has until now proven difficult or impossible to resolve.

Girafe – the latest decanter to be developed by Maximilian J. Riedel - now offers a solution to this problem.

The elongated neck reminded the designer, Maximilian J. Riedel, of a giraffe - hence the name in German. On the one hand, the design lends the decanter a touch of elegance - on the other, much more importantly, the form also fulfils a crucial function:

“It allows sediments to gather and condense in the curves in the base of the decanter neck: as it were, in the shoulder. The form prevents the sediments from flowing out with the wine. In this way, the problem of bothersome deposits in the wine glass is resolved at a stroke. This has to be good news for lovers of mature wines,” says Maximilian Riedel, clearly pleased with the successful design.

An additional effect of this carafe is its automatic temperature control, which is achieved thanks to the perfectly balanced volume of the decanter. This ensures that the wine is always kept at the ideal temperature.

Girafe is hand-crafted from crystal glass.

Since its launch in 2006, the Amadeo decanter designed by Stefan Umdasch has established itself as one of the icons in the Riedel decanter collection.

In 2019, colour is coming to the Amadeo decanter – and no, it isn’t just limited to a line, as with other Riedel designs! A new manufacturing technique has made it possible to add colour to the entire surface of the decanter, resulting in a new and modern aesthetic.

The decanter is available in the Limited Edition collection in three colours carefully selected by Georg J. Riedel (10th generation of the family): menta (a shade of green), grigio (grey) and rosa.

Hand-blown from crystal glass and hand-crafted in the Riedel factory in Kufstein, these decanters are not just perfect instruments for the enjoyment of wine but also a clear statement of good taste – and not only when it comes to wine!

A with red wine filled decanter Curly Pink Magnum

Riedel Curly Magnum

The design of the Curly decanter has established itself as an absolute favourite in the Riedel decanter collection. It is ergonomic and, thanks to its form and pink hue, an automatic bringer of good cheer. (It may be a coincidence that it is especially loved by the ladies.)

In the Chinese horoscope, 2019 is the Year of the Pig. Riedel is marking this occasion by offering a special edition of this decanter in 2019, which will be available this year only: Curly Magnum with a capacity of 1.5 litres.

The decanter is hand-crafted from crystal glass in the Riedel factory in Kufstein, Austria. The fact that each piece is unique is enough on its own to make it a special gift for Christmas or to mark the New Year, either in Asia (5.2) or in those Western cultures in which the pig is also considered to be a bringer of good fortune.

Riedel recommends that all wines should be decanted, including white wines and champagne.

By the way, Curly is also particularly suited to champagne and is the perfect companion for special occasions!

Let’s celebrate with Curly Magnum!
