The lightness of pleasure

RIEDEL Veloce is a new, impressive development based on state-of-the-art technology at RIEDEL's Weiden factory.

Though it looks and feels handmade, this new collection is produced by a specially developed machine that enables us to create products equal to those handcrafted by a master glassmaker. It is a homage to technology, as glassmaking by hand has become a declining craft.

Maximilian Riedel selected the name "Veloce", meaning "fast" in Italian, after this new cutting-edge technology that closely mimics handmade products, but at great speed and with reliable precision.

Wine lovers worldwide understand that RIEDEL wine glasses are developed in different shapes and sizes to work harmoniously with specific grape varieties. Only such advanced machine production can guarantee this precise glass design.

RIEDEL fans might see a resemblance to the Extreme collection, created by Georg J. Riedel in 2000 for wines from the New World. The range derived its name from the extreme angles of the diamond shape, offering more space in the glass to bring out the wine's full aromas. It was the first diamond-shaped machine-made collection to charm wine lovers.

However, RIEDEL VELOCE is taller and has thinner stems and finer bowls while maintaining perfect balance. As a result, their weight has been reduced considerably, with the remarkable feel of handmade glass. They also feature a 100mm base, the new standard for large glass shapes, but which can only be mechanically created at this size by RIEDEL.

The design of the RIEDEL Veloce logo is based on a company logotype that dates back to 1890. It appears in glowing red at the centre of RIEDEL's instantly recognizable black and red packaging.

Recognizing the evolution of modern wines, the Riedel family conducted intensive new rounds of comparative glass tastings with wine industry experts. As a result, RIEDEL Veloce includes adapted glass shapes for Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.

The RIEDEL Veloce collection is available in nine sizes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Syrah/Shiraz, Pinot Noir/Nebbiolo, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Chardonnay, a Champagne glass, and a water glass.

In addition, the base of each glass features the designated grape variety, making it easier to identify. This concept was well-received when first introduced in 2020 with the collection RIEDEL Winewings.

Like all RIEDEL glasses, RIEDEL Veloce presents the wine at its best! Modern with impressive balance and feel, an attractive price, and fully dishwasher safe, RIEDEL Veloce is perfect for wine connoisseurs.

It requires a very high level of expertise to be able to produce these glasses by machine, and I say that not without a little pride. It is extremely difficult to produce a glass of such quality by machine.

We owe this to the skills of our technicians and our years of experience in machine production.
