Built with only spirits and a garnish of orange, this colourful cocktail is not for the faint of heart.

According to Four Pillars Gin: "The Negroni is a tribute to the original definition of a cocktail: spirit, sweet and bitter, the ultimate balance of flavours to stimulate all senses and quench all thirsts."

Cocktail: Negroni

Glass: Perfect Serve Single Old Fashioned

History: Going off the most popular story, the Negroni is due to celebrate its 100th anniversary soon, after its creation by Count Camillo Negroni in 1919.  Keen to add a little more kick to his usual Americano cocktail, he asked the bartender to substitute the drink's soda water for gin. The Negroni family then went on to found a distillery in Treviso, Italy, and began producing a ready-made version called Antico Negroni.

Known for: Ask anyone in the wine industry and they'll tell you a well made Negroni is the best way to finish a long lunch.
