This white wine grape variety is a member of the Muscat family and originates in the Alsace region of France, while also being widely grown across central and eastern Europe. Thought to be a crossing of Chasselas and an undetermined Muscat variety, this grape variety can yield full, mild wines that possess a light nutmeg flavour, while particularly ripened grapes may pair well with sweet dishes.
