Created as a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale in 1882, this white grape variety is now grown throughout central Europe and most extensively in Germany. This grape makes for dry white wines with peach aromas and low levels of acidity. They match well with prawns, seafood such as octopus, and creamy cheeses such as montasio.
