Calvados

This apple or pear brandy comes from the Normandy region of France. Typically, the cider for this spirit is made from a combination of sweet and bitter apples. As with other brandies, calvados develops with maturity. Young calvados can be enjoyed with ice and pairs well with creamy cheeses like camembert, while weaker, more mature calvados can be enjoyed as a dram with apple pudding.
