Ladies and Gentlemen, it‘s Winter Cocktail Time!

Bitter, spicy or fruity? Cocktails are a true all-rounder and their detailed appearance makes your heart beat a little faster. Their many facets and fine notes make them a perfect match for everyone.

Yet which cocktails are particularly suitable for cooler temperatures? We have compiled the following selection of our classics so that you can prepare the ideal drink even in frosty temperatures and excel in front of your festive guests with sophisticated aperitifs.

Apple Cranberry Moscow Mule

Ingredients:

  • 20 ml vodka
  • 60 ml cranberry juice
  • 120 ml spritzed apple juice
  • 2 ginger beers
  • Ice cubes
  • Cranberries
  • 1 lime (in slices)

Preperation:

To prepare the Apple Cranberry Moscow Mule, first fill two tumblers with ice. Then vodka and cranberry juice are poured into the tumblers. Then, the glasses are filled with apple juice and ginger beer and the cocktail is stirred well. Finally, you can then garnish your creation with cranberries and lime slices - and the winter cocktail is ready for consumption.

White Christmas Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 1 lime (the juice of it)
  • 8 leaves of mint
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white rum
  • 1 tablespoon coconut rum
  • 100 ml coconut milk (from a can)
  • Fill up with mineral water
  • Pomegranate seeds (for decoration)
  • Mint leaves (for decoration)
  • Cinnamon (for decoration)
  • Ice cubes

Preperation:

In a large jug, stir together lime juice, sugar, and mint leaves until the leaves break down. Then, in a blender, blend the white rum, coconut rum, and coconut milk until the mixture has a smooth consistency. Next, pour the mint-lime-sugar mixture over it, stir, and let it cool down. To serve, distribute the ice among the glasses and fill each glass evenly with the mixture you just made. Finally, top off the cocktail with sparkling water and garnish with mint leaves, pomegranate seeds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Gingerbread Eggnog

Ingredients:

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 350 ml heavy cream
  • 125 g sugar
  • 250 ml rum (alternatively brandy or whiskey)
  • 2 tsp gingerbread spice
  • A pinch of vanilla sugar
  • Whipped cream for topping

Preperation:

For the Gingerbread Eggnog, first separate the eggs and place the yolks in a heatproof bowl. Subsequently, add sugar to the yolks and beat the mixture until it becomes frothy. Continue stirring over a pot of boiling water and mix in the heavy cream. Once the mixture attains a fine, creamy consistency, stir in a teaspoon of gingerbread spice. Remove the pot from the heat immediately and blend in the alcohol. Let the eggnog cool down and then transfer it to bottles. Before serving, add some vanilla sugar and, for a crowning finish, top the winter cocktail with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with gingerbread spice. Cheers!

Grog

Ingredients for 2 drinks:

  • 400 ml / 13.6 oz. hot water
  • 80ml / 8 cl / 2.7 oz. rum
  • 40 g brown sugar
  • 2 lemon slices

Preparation:

Divide the rum and sugar between two RIEDEL Tumbler Collection Spey Long Drink glasses.  
Add hot water and stir until the sugar dissolves, then garnish with a lemon slice.

Bombardino

Ingredients for 2 drinks:

  • 160 ml / 16 cl / 5.4 oz. advocaat
  • 80 ml / 8 cl / 2.7 oz. whisky
  • 40 ml / 4 cl / 1.4 oz. brandy
  • 8 tbsp cane sugar
  • 400 ml / 40 cl /13.5 oz. hot milk
  • 4 tbsp whipped cream
  • Ground cinnamon


Preparation:

Mix the advocaat with the whiskey, brandy and cane sugar. Add the hot milk: froth and steam the milk first for better texture, though you can use milk that has simply been warmed up.

Divide the mixture between two RIEDEL Drink Specific Glassware Nick & Nora glasses. Before serving, decorate each glass with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon powder.
