Our Sommelier of the Month for February 2019 is Stefanos Andreadis, Sommelier at Longueville Manor Hotel. Stefanos has very kindly answered a selection of questions which are below along with his response.
How did you get into the wine industry?
Being a Greek citizen, I have had a passion for viticulture and vinification since my youth.
Why do you enjoy using Riedel glassware within your restaurant?
Because of the clever and accurate design of the glasses, we can get the best bouquet and taste from the wines.
What reaction do you get from customers when you serve their wines in different varietal specific glasses?
Our customers are very impressed because they recognise that Riedel is the most advanced glass and decanter maker in the world.
What’s been your greatest wine experience?
When I started work at Longueville Manor, I opened a Mouton Rothschild 1986 and I used Riedel Veritas glasses.
What’s been the funniest wine moment in your career?
When I forgot to charge a guest for a bottle of Lynch-Bages 2000… but my manager realised just in time!
What’s been your biggest wine faux pas?
Once a lady told me that she hated Chardonnay but her favourite wine was Chablis!!
