Lo shock decanting è un metodo rapido e vigoroso per ossigenare il vino versandolo energicamente in un decanter o da un contenitore all'altro per esporlo all'ossigeno. “Apre” rapidamente i vini giovani e chiusi, ammorbidendo i tannini, esaltando gli aromi e rivelando le loro sensazioni gustative più profonde, senza dover attendere i tempi della decantazione tradizionale.
La doppia decantazione consente di ossigenare il vino due volte: una volta quando viene versato nel decanter e un'altra quando viene servito. Questo metodo risulta ideale per i vini giovani che necessitano di una rapida esposizione all'ossigeno. Inoltre, riduce i tempi di un'adeguata decantazione dei vini.
Il decanter deve essere lavato a mano con acqua calda e detersivo liquido. Per le macchie più ostinate si consiglia di utilizzare le perle per bottiglie RIEDEL che consentono di rimuovere i residui in maniera estremamente delicata.
